My response to Sara Russell's...
If I had three lives
And if I had three lives
The first would be a winding road, a journey of self discovery
A walk through a maze, a symphony of struggle
I'd stumble, I'd fall
but I'd always pick myself up
Driven by an insatiable hunger to reach my own undefined horizon
Each goal a mountain to climb, each achievement a hard- won victory.
The second, I'd enjoy life and everything that comes with it
Oh, I'd love and be loved
I'd love with the fierce passion of the sun wooing the moon
I'd love with the tender embrace of rain upon the earth
I'd love like an insect drawn to flower, with a quiet reverence
This life would be a love song, and I'll enjoy the slow waltz.
And in the third, I'll fade into time
My third life will be a quiet surrender
Because I've pondered on immortality and found it wanting
Having lived a fulfilling life , satisfied my hunger for love, adventure and experience
I'd let go, knowing my presence has touched the world in some small, meaningful way.
But we only get one. Within it, I'll find a way to live all three lives. I'll experience the fire of ambition, the tenderness of love, and the calm acceptance of fading. It won't be easy, but it'll be magnificent.
So, I was doomscrolling on Instagram when this video found it's way to me. This is Dan Whitlam's response to Sarah Russell's "if I had three lives".
Few of my friends had already liked it, so I'm sending them my thanks. Because if not for them, I might not have seen it. And maybe there's a chance that I would have seen it anyways. But this video inspired this post and I'm putting it here, maybe it'd make you think about what you'd do if you had three lives too. Then, you can write about it and I can read it!!!π₯³
