Who says romance is dead?
Let me tell you a little story...
Once upon a time, there was this guy- scratch that. Okay, so this happened yesterday. I know, I know, I should have told you guys right away, but I was speechless! It was like... shocked, but not shocked, if that makes sense.
So, this guy, who's actually my friend (I basically forced him to be my friend, he didn't have a choice π), messaged me yesterday for my opinion on something. I was so confused at first! It was like, I know him, but not really know him? And then I was shocked because he showed me a whole new side of himself. I had no idea CEO was capable of such sentimentality.
He asked me, βIf a guy wrote 100 poems for you or about you in a little pink book. How would you feel?β I was already doing mental back flips because 100 poems??? I know how hard it is to find words to convey a message, let alone write a poem to express your love. He sent me a video of the book and on the front cover it said, βa collection of my inner thoughts about a story..β Each poem got a befitting title that described the emotions it captured. I was stunned and proud at the same time. It was a whole new side, a side I never knew existed!
Just before I let the mushy, squeaky dopamine get to my head, I asked him, 'Are you doing this because it'll get you her, or because it's something she'd like?' I needed to know if he was doing it for the right reasons. His reply was...
I was praising him, calling him 'Her Ahmad Babangida' because he'd read the book and he fits the rich Arewa picture. Imagine my surprise when he said he'd read it for her! That's how he knew about it! He even said he couldn't compete with Ahmad, because Ahmad was fictional, but he'd show her what real love felt like.
By this point, I needed someone to tell me to shut my mouth. Every answer he gave to my questions was absurd... in the best way possible.
So, he's writing a poem everyday till her birthday in December! Tell me, if that isn't the perfect expression of love, I don't know what is. I'm silently praying he gets the girl so that I can pull up to my first Arewa wedding in atampa and eat jollof rice, dambu and masa.
Who says romance is dead? If CEO can write 100 poems for a girl, it's alive and well! And my girls, never settle for less. If a guy wants to, he will! But wait, this is love, left and right. God, is this a sign?
(P.S. I wanted to sell CEO, but he told me not to tag him or anything. But I got permission to write and post this, btw).
If you haven't found love like this yet, take your time and enjoy the story. Read it again, giggle, and squeal! Because the only guy doing this for you right now is probably in your imagination. Let's keep dreaming! You are not alone, I'm here tooπ
Enjoy π

Intentional loverrrr>>>>>>>>>>
Now that's a brotha I can vibe with. As a poet myself, it's just impossible not to write poems about someone you care about like that. Although I write for myself first just because that's how I emote. If she likes it then that's a plus. I know damn well I'll be writing books of poetry for her once I find her, and it's gonna be hella fun.
